Pole Barns & Shops
What it is and why it matters
A pole barn goes up fast and spans wide open space without interior walls holding up the roof, which is exactly what you want in a shop, an equipment building or a barn.
We build post-frame from the slab up: posts and trusses, metal roofing and siding, doors and windows, and the interior finish if you want the walls and ceiling lined.

What we handle
- Shops, equipment buildings and storage barns
- Post-frame structure, trusses and roof
- Metal roofing and siding in your color
- Overhead doors, walk doors and windows
- Steel liner on walls and ceiling
- Concrete slab coordination
Worth thinking through first
- What goes inside, and how tall the tallest thing is
- Door sizes, which decide what you can actually pull in
- Whether you want it lined and insulated now or later
- Where the building sits for drainage and access

I’m pleased with the job SWMO Exteriors did on my metal roof and will call them again for my next project. Great customer service and workmanship all the way through!

What is post-frame, and how is it different from a stick-built shop?
Post-frame sets large posts into or onto the ground at wide intervals and carries the roof on trusses spanning between them. It uses less material than stud framing for a big open building, goes up faster, and leaves the floor clear of posts.
Can a pole barn be finished inside?
Yes. Steel liner on the walls and ceiling is common for a shop, and insulation can go in at the same time. It is much easier to line a building while it is going up than to come back later.
Can you build a barndominium instead?
Yes. A barndominium is a post-frame building finished as living space. We have built them from framing through the interior, so the structure, exterior and finish all come from one crew.
