Soffit Installation & Repair

Ventilation and a finished underside for every eave.

Soffit

What it is and why it matters

Soffit is the paneling that closes off the underside of your roof overhang. Done right, it lets the attic breathe through the eaves, keeps birds, wasps and weather out of the rafters, and gives the whole house a finished edge.

Done wrong, or left to rot, it lets moisture and critters into places you can't see until the damage is already done.

Questions

Soffit FAQ

Something else on your mind? Call (417) 592-2961 and ask.

Does soffit really affect attic ventilation?

Yes. Vented soffit is usually the intake half of a roof's ventilation system: air comes in low at the eaves and exits high at the ridge or roof vents. Solid or blocked soffit where it should be vented can trap heat and moisture in the attic.

Should soffit and fascia be done at the same time?

Often, yes. They meet at the same corner of the roofline, so if one is rotted the other is worth checking. Doing both together also keeps the finish consistent. We'll tell you what actually needs replacing after we look.

Can you replace just the damaged sections?

Sometimes. It depends on how far the damage goes and whether matching material is still available. When both a repair and a replacement make sense, we'll lay out both.
